There are some Russian enterprises that exist in large part due to foreign orders.

No one is saying the engines sales needs to be stopped.. but that the price is ridiculous low..
Your lovely USA have given far more money to train terrorist in Syria than what they are paying in this deal..

here $500 million for jihadist terrorist.. to fight Assad..

    http://rt.com/usa/223559-us-troops-syria-training/

and this is like the 10th time they give money. in similar quantities.. from 100 to 500 millions. is their terrorist help.. on average americans give $1 billion , to beardy Islamic Psychopaths every year ,to do the france terrorist attacks but every day in Syria and overthrow their government..  The Islamic Fighters that Obama sponsor already have received more than $3 billions in financial help from Obama since the conflict began..  Is very low price ,selling such technology for pennies. Such Russian companies continue building engines to Russian Government..so is not like they will go out of business. 1 billion is nothing for USA.. they gave 1 billion to ukraine recently and for nothing.

The engines don't cost anywhere near that price to build if I recall... They'd still be making money all while messing with the US.

You actually did not read ,what i told before..  Is not the cost of the engines what Russia needs to add in the price..
but their 40+ years refining their engines + the cost + the training of how's to..  Is completely wrong that Russia sale cutting edge technology , that USA cannot buy anywhere else only the price of the labor and materials.

If USA do the engines themselves.. they will have to pay 3 billions per engine design try and waste up to 10 years..
and even risk human lives.. Time is another thing that Russia is not taking into account in the price.. the time USA will save for buying theirs.. saving 10 years of time in space is worth of tons of gold.

Im really interested to know what opposition parties leaders in RUssia say about this deal.. if anyone knows..
Because im sure that there have to be mayor protest for the ridiculous  low price.

For the money they make on these engines they can pay their workers and develop new engines and upgrade production facilities.

If they charge too much the US might simply decide to develop their own engines... even if they cost more and are less powerful they will at least be made by US workers... except of course they will likely have them made in China like other western companies... Twisted Evil

40+ years and "cutting edge" in the same paragraph? It doesn't matter as long as they aren't directly losing money on the deal.

Russia to Create New High-Latitude Space Station

The TsNIIMash Research Institute of the Russian Federal Space Agency (Roscosmos) has prepared a concept of creating a high-latitude space station to be presented to the Military-Industrial Commission. This idea will be considered in the first quarter of 2015. This statement was made by First Deputy Director of the TsNIIMash Research Institute Alexander Danilyuk.

“We have prepared the appropriate documents. We think that they will be considered in the first quarter of this year. There are no technical difficulties with the construction of the high-latitude station,” the official said, mentioning the possibility of including this concept into the basic documents, such as the Federal Space Program.

According to previous reports, Russia may start building a new space station in 2017. Roscosmos Head Oleg Ostapenko earlier stated that the new station might use the modules that are now being created for the ISS.

Roscosmos to draft federal space programme by May — Roscosmos head

MOSCOW, January 22. /TASS/. Russia’s Federal Space Agency (Roscosmos) is to submit to the Russian government a draft federal space program and a program of development of space centers by May, Igor Komarov, the newly appointed head of the Federal Space Agency and the head of the United Rocket and Space Corporation (ORKK), said on Thursday.

“We are to submit to the government a draft federal space program and a program of development of Russian space center by May,” he said.

It was announced on Wednesday that Roscosmos and the ORKK would be merged into a single state corporation. Also, it was announced that Komarov succeeded Oleg Ostapenko as the head of the Federal Space Agency. According to earlier reports, Komarov is seen as the head of the new state corporation.

Oleg Ostapenko, the former chief of the federal space agency Roskosmos, may become a member of the board of directors of a new state corporation Roskosmos, which is currently being created, Dmitry Rogozin said.

Russia’s newly created state space industry corporation Roscosmos will have a smaller staff than the total personnel of the Federal Space Agency and the ORKK, on the basis of which the revamped Roscosmos is being formed, the CEO of the company, Igor Koramov, said.

Very bad news.. Russian Government will cut by 10% their space budget.. This is completely stupid..

Russian space budget to be slashed by 10 percent in 2015

    http://rbth.com/news/2015/01/27/russian_space_budget_to_be_slashed_by_10_percent_in_2015_43183.html

They should cut instead in their wasted money in upgrading their kirov for half good features , cancel Pak-fa not
needed that junk , and cancel the mistral. And while they are at it.. they should stop developing new nukes..
And instead on decreasing their space budget.. they should be increasing it by 100%.. Russian space program ,drive a huge part of the Russian Industry and helps its modernization. Is so stupid they are not really spending their money where it needs to be done.. Even their sport budget can be cut in half.. is a waste the money they spend in
trainners in something that only serve to worship the ego and nothing else.. for a day of glory..

IF Russia lower their guard in space ,they will be really sorry later , because is not their nukes that can help Russian economy but their business and technology.

This wont effect their strategic nuclear forces, or their space defence forces... this will just extend the time tables for space exploration.... which is at the end of the day an luxury and when times are tough to cancel or reduce the luxuries first.

When times are better the money can be diverted back, and in that time perhaps technology will have further matured and things will be cheaper, easier, or better.

It is not as if they have cut the budget for space completely.

it will create delays in their new space center and delays in their space projects too.. because their budget was
already under big pressure for the delays and others problems.  The Russia space agency move almost the entire Russia technology industry.. so i consider completely silly they will cut funds where they need to work more..
Pak-fa is not even needed now.. F-35 is delayed.. and F-22 is not going to stand a chance ever to fly over Russia.
and just focus in a good bomber.. or upgrading the ones the have.

Things like Sports , or new Nukes ,they can cut that , mistrals , Kirov class modernization and cut in half their orders of surface warships fleet.. which will not help Russia for any deterrence or any security.

There are so many cuts they could do , and Russia space program was the only thing that Russia had ,that was helping Russia to promote their Nation in the west for business.. silly indeed cutting budget in the most important
Business that Russia have in the world.. that better helps them in the world to project their nation for Business.

then you wouldnt launch anything constantly waiting for new technologies...

anyway -as expected, all programs should be frozen ,near earth orbit satelites are top priority and best use of scarce resourses...
also many components are imported which can complicate procurement and are increasing in costs...

Well supposedly the reorganization/merger of Roscosmos/ORKK will yield 3x efficiency boost, so 10% budget cut it nothing in comparison...

Russia to Focus on Outer Space Militarization

Russia should focus on the military aspect of the space industry’s development, rather than on the service sector. This was stated by Director of the Space Communications Center Alexander Krylov.

“We should primarily focus on the military component of the space industry, and then on the technologies and services,” Mr. Krylov said at a meeting on the space industry’s development.

According to the official, the extensive use of commercial satellite systems in military conflicts and peacekeeping operations, as well as the installation of military payloads on such devices is one of the main directions in which the industry is heading.

It should be noted that the orbit group of the Russian Federation increased by 17 spacecraft in 2014. It comprises 134 spacecraft at the moment. This figure is the third in the world, following only the USA and China.

The cool thing about space orbit and no gravity is that any shape will work.. So literary that design above could be
made if they had the budget to be that creative.  Smile

it looks like an aircraft carrier in space.. and the middle could be used to build space ships for Moon ,mars or other planets.. can you imagine that?  Russia could trigger a space design race ,which space station looks the more futuristic of all.. it could even be made to be a real space ship with thrusters to move in space.. let me be the president of Russia and the budget will show up in no time.... but don't expect light speed travel anytime soon. Well that is not entirely true. Structure is still bound to physics despite the biggest factor the lack of atmosphere. Structures need to be consrtucted in a way that acceleration even rapid acceleration or gravitation fields of bigger space objects than our earth, do not comprimise the structural integrity. I mean shapes like i have build in many games where ships would have in mid section just around 4m square section and tip and toe are as weight as football field, such designs wouldn't work in reality, but yes the design has less boundaries as long they stay in space and are not designed to enter atmospheres of planets or moons.

Except the rationale for polar-latititude station that over-flies majority of Russian territory then vanishes if India is supposed to be interested, not being able to launch to the station from their own territory would be a bit of a downer... Could keep this proposed new station at more moderate latitudes reachable from India as well as Russia.

Basically Russia government solo manned projects ,will be limited to the moon.. about ~ 2030 first and from there to Mars.. They want to create a base there for mining and research of future space program projects.. The interview
says neither USA or CHina will be in competition ,since US official goals/funding are focused on mars and CHINA goals in the moon only limited to unmanned exploration.

Any mission for mars from RUssia until 2030 will be limited to unmanned probes ,orbiters and rovers either collaboration with the EU or China or Solo.

Russia’s Millimetron Space Observatory to be Launched in 2025

Russia's Federal Space Agency claims that Russia’s Millimetron space observatory, aimed at solving “fundamental astrophysical problems”, will be launched into orbit in 2025.

MOSCOW, (Sputnik) — Russia’s Millimetron space observatory, aimed at solving “fundamental astrophysical problems”, will be launched into orbit in 2025, Russia's Federal Space Agency (Roscosmos) said.

“It is expected that Millimetron will be launched into orbit in 2025, to the L2 Lagrange point of the Sun-Earth system at a distance of 1.5 million kilometers from our planet,” Roscosmos said in a statement Monday.

The observatory will include an ultra-sensitive space telescope with a diameter of 10 meters (32.8 feet) and help study black holes, the formation of stars, planets and galaxies.
