My name is Julia and I live in the US. I have who I once considered friend, but he just left our friendship and will be in the service soon. I was wondering if this is common, for people to end things before leaving to go to their service? And advice would be helpful. Thank you in advance. He is leaving to be in the Russian Army this month. I will miss him. But don't have a choice it seems if he wont talk or write.

Re: Hello from the USA
This makes me sad. We were friends for 2 yrs. plus...and were very close. True he lives far away, but I never like to lose friends because we don't know the future and I just think it was unlike him to do such a thing because just prior to that day..(him saying a final goodbye) we talked of his calling me to say goodbye and spoke of keeping in touch. Maybe its just too hard to think about friends and things when you are in the service? I just lost a friend, and I dont understand why.
I am a full time Nursing student..I work 2 jobs, I have a job at a grocery store as a cashier..of which I hate, but its money, and I bartend. That job is new. I was to only go to gain experience and maybe get a tip or 2, but the place hired me after my first night. I was very fortunate, because now Im on the books, and make lots of tips. I dont have a drivers license, but I bought a Jeep. I never do anything of the norm. I'm 18, will be 19 this March and I just am pretty much a happy person, and pretty busy. Im single, I dont know if thats good or not, but I think for now its good. It seems younger guys or..guys my age are not on the same page as I am. I think that will come some years down the road. I'm shy, but I am very social ... if that makes sense. I love to talk, get to know people and have just really nice conversations. Im pretty much an open book. Im not with many secrets..I love honesty because I know where I stand, and Ill give that back to you. I have some flaws and quirks, but I think we are all in the making and we are to have them, so its okay as long as flaws and quirks dont break hearts or get in the way of love or true friendships.
You seem like a friendly bunch here. I dont know much of dogfights or combat, just that I do share a love for those who serve. My dad just retired from the Navy Reserves,,he is a Chief and saw much of the world. I think it takes a very special kind of person to serve and I hold a deep respect for them. Me? Im too much a chicken to do such things, or maybe it would be fair to say, I dont have what it takes..and that I can be the one who would support you, be there for you, and respect you...okay, and make you something good to eat as I love to cook and bake. Im not the typical 18 yr. old from the states. While most of my friends are out getting drunk and running from the law, Im either working, going to school, baking, cooking or you can find me in the art museums or institutes of science in my city.
@nightcrawler...maybe Im the spy!
